Organizing a Community Clean-up Day
-

Getting your neighborhood involved in an annual “Community Clean-up Day” is easy and a great way to make a real difference in your neighborhood. Have a community area to clean-up and ready to get started? Here are a few simple pointers when organizing your event:
- Make flyers that announce the clean-up day and distribute to your community or church. Be sure to include any contact details or supplies the volunteers need to bring.
- Why not contact your local newspaper and see if they can put in a notice to get more people to help out?
- On the day of the clean-up, provide garbage bags and boxes for trash and have a plan for a truck or van to haul away the trash to the closest collection or recycling area.
- Tip: you can use the same Pinalen® all-purpose cleaner you use to clean your home to remove any oil, markers, gum or dirt outdoors too.
- Be sure to take before and after photos with a few of the volunteers. Use these photos in your next flyer, or better yet, let your community paper print them.
Limit the clean-up day to a morning, have plenty of refreshments on hand and be sure to celebrate the success of contributing to your community. We want to know – have you organized a clean-up day and do you have and advice of your own to share?
