This Mother’s Day, Show Mom Your Appreciation with a Thank You Spruce-Up!
-

When you were kid, holidays would mean a thorough, mom-approved cleaning around the house. From cleaning the kitchen and bathroom floors, to polishing the good silverware, mom would always make time to show you how a picture-perfect (and clean) home should look like. This mother’s day, show Mom your appreciation for all that hard work she put in to giving you some great lessons on housecleaning, by cleaning her house as her gift!
Note: Before you start, make sure the sponge you’re using is free from harmful bacteria. Putting the sponge in the microwave for a few seconds should do the trick.
Start in the kitchen.
- Ask mom if it’s alright to do an overhaul on her refrigerator. When she gives the OK, empty out the fridge, and go to work with Pinalen® all-purpose cleaner and some water. Ask mom what her favorite scent is and choose the cleaner scent accordingly (I prefer a citrus scent for the fridge). Stuck on drippings on the bottom and sides of the fridge can be easily removed with a scouring pad.
- Wipe down all the kitchen counters and cabinets.
- Tackle the floor with the same all-purpose cleaner. Use 1 1/3 cup of cleaner in a half gallon of water for this job.
- For the stove and vent hood, you can safely clean and degrease all non-porous kitchen surfaces. ¼ cup of cleaning solution in a half gallon of water will cut through all that grease.
Move on to the bathroom.
- Wipe down the toilet seat and scrub the inside the bowl thoroughly.
- Spray the mirror with a glass cleaner for a streak-free shine.
- Just as you’ve done with the kitchen, clean the floor with all-purpose cleaner. 1 1/3 cup of cleaner in a half gallon of water will do.
It’s bedroom, living room and dining room time!
- Wash and dry linens and curtains with a gentle laundry detergent like Pinol®.
- Iron curtains with a cool iron to avoid scorching mishaps (this holds especially true for delicate fabrics).
- Wipe down furniture with a dry cloth and if needed, a wood cleaner.
- Vacuum carpets and sweep hardwood floors.
After all your hard work, Mom is sure to be impressed and feel loved this mother’s day. Mom might appreciate this more than flowers (or any of the other typical Mother’s Day gifts). A clean, fresh-smelling home is sometimes the best gift of all! And Mom will get the real red-carpet treatment by relaxing that day. Time and effort is all it takes!
